From January 2026, I will be Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania and, from July 2026, Director of the Center for the Advanced Study of India (CASI). I specialize in comparative politics, South Asia, and intergroup relations. My work examines how democratic institutions accommodate social diversity and internal mobility. In ongoing projects, I explore ways to build “bridging” social capital, with implications for education policy, workplace inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and the vitality of civic and associational life.

I received my PhD from Yale University. I was previously Associate Professor at UCSD and the Evidence in Governance and Politics Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. I am an EGAP member and a CEGA faculty affiliate.
